The Importance of Chiropractic Care for your animal

The practice of Veterinary Chiropractic Care is a form of alternative medicine that includes the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders called subluxations (fixations) of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Chiropractic adjustments are used to correct subluxations of vertebrae of the spine and
other joints in the body. Correction of subluxations restores the proper biomechanics and function to the spine and nervous system.

Subluxations cause pain (muscle knots tend to form around them which is even more restricting) but can also inhibit the nervous system from communicating with the rest of the body. When nerve communication is inhibited, the body is not able to function at 100% or heal itself
properly and illness as well as pain can be the result.

Subluxations can be caused from trauma, daily repetitive movements, bad habits and poor
posture/muscle weakness. Aging, stress, and the type of work a pet or horse is required to perform can
all contribute to subluxations.

Chiropractic care will help your animal with disorders involving the nervous system and the
musculoskeletal system. Some specific conditions that chiropractic can provide relief for include:

  • Performance problems in working animals

  • Arthritis

  • Degenerative joint disease

  • Hip dysplasia

  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)

  • Other forms of back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Joint stiffness

**Radiographs are indicated in diseases of the spine before a chiropractic adjustment can be
preformed, so please give a full history during exam.

Chiropractic care works well with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in addition to Western
veterinary medicine as a Holistic approach to preventive and maintenance health care for all animals.
